Fiore in Bocca

This piece was inspired by the play called Man With the Flower in His Mouth by Luigi Pirandello. It is a play about a gentleman who is slowly losing his life due to of a skin cancer called epithelioma. The cancer shows itself in the form of a violet colored spot on his mouth, hence “The Man With the Flower.” The Man With the Flower waits at a train station as he usually does and is eventually met by a commuter with all the time in the world as he missed his train.

Beyond 280 Days

It takes exactly 280 days for a human fetus to fully develop in the womb—a period of sheltered, clinical perfection. This piece explores what happens next. Centering on a couple navigating the raw reality of existence after those initial 280 days, the work delves into the beautiful, messy, and painful architecture of being human. From the heights of love and intimacy to the inevitable gravity of pain and mortality, it is an exploration of the chaotic world we are all thrust into once our time in the dark is up.
